3)  Q How do I get a printer fixed?
A
There are a couple of issues to consider when getting a printer repaired. If it is a personal printer, like an injet printer that many of our teachers have on thier desk, its most likely going to be cheaper to replace it with a new printer than try to get it repaired.

If its a networked printer that is no longer under warranty, its best to call a printer repair firm. There are many available in the valley, however I can recommend;

Laser Printer Technologies

If its a network printer that is still under warranty please contact the help desk by submitting a work order. And you are welcome to generate a work order any time you want a "second opinion" or aren't sure if your printer requires external attention.

4)  Q How do I remove malware and spyware from my computer?
A

The real answer is that there is no single solution for this problem. Your first best defence is to make sure your system is always up to date with the latest patches and security fixes. And frankly, to be completely free of malware you need to run a couple of cleaning utilities.

 One of the most popular adware removal programs for the Windows platrom is Ad-Aware from a company called Lavasoft. There is a free version you can download that will scrub your hard drive for adware, spyware, and an assortment of malware. If you purchase the other versions you can set it to prevent the installtion of malware. This program is well worth the investment of time and money if you choose to purchase a version.

You can download the free personal edition at;

7)  Q How do I configure all of my Outlook folders to AutoArchive with different settings for each folder?
A

Specify AutoArchive settings for individual folders

  1. On the Go menu, click Folder List , right-click the folder you want to specify settings for, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu.
  2. Click the AutoArchive tab.
  3. Specify whether you want to archive this folder and if so, whether to use the default AutoArchive settings or your own settings.

To archive to a file other than the default one, specify a different file name in the Move old items to box. The next time AutoArchive runs on this folder, Outlook will automatically create the new archive file for items in this folder.

8)  Q Where can I learn more about using Windows, Word, Power Point, and Excel?
A
If you are looking for web resources the first place to go is the Microsoft site.

http://www.microsoft.com

You'll find lots of windows and office tips there as well as free templates and resources for your programs.

Beyond that, a basic Google search will return thousands of hits.

If you are looking for a quick solution or just want to learn some new ideas, the pdf's below are provided by the Folsom Cordova school district and they are excellent sources for little known features in Microsoft programs.
