5th Graders learn the world of business at Camp BizWorld - September 10-11, 2009

Bishop Elementary, in cooperation with LiveOps and The BizWorld Foundation, participated in LiveOpps' first Camp BizWorld event.

On September 10th and 11th, thirty fifth-grade students from Bishop Elementary School worked on site at LiveOps headquarters in Santa Clara, CA to learn the process of building a business from the initial business plan to sales and marketing and ultimately reporting to investors on their business success. LiveOps employees were on hand to advise the students as well as play different roles instrumental in developing a business: from the venture capitalists who fund it to the customers.

In the BizWorld program, students work in teams to start and run their own businesses in a simulated friendship bracelet industry. Taking on different leadership roles, students learn the basics of business and entrepreneurship as they apply for jobs, design, manufacture, market, and sell their products in the BizWorld Sales Bazaar.
